The Club
How it Works
The Club will meet four times from August to November by video meeting to learn about, taste, and discuss twelve wines from small, artisan producers throughout Tuscany, personally selected by sommelier, Francesco Gronchi.
Joining the Club is a two step process using the buttons above to “Join Club” and “Order Wines.” After paying the membership fee, members will receive tasting notes and meeting instructions. Each of the 4 tasting sessions will last about an hour and will include guided presentations for 3 wines with expert commentary by Francesco. Members are allowed and encouraged to invite friends to participate in-person if they like.
How to Order
Use the “Order Wines” button above to send an order request to Enoteca Scali in Volterra, Italy. They will send you an invoice with secure payment link. They will ship the wines to you directly, shipping and insurance included, within 21 days.
Francesco Gronchi, Sommelier
Francesco Gronchi is a sommelier, docent, and critic for Slow Food’s wine review, Slow Wine. Francesco was born and raised in Volterra, in the heart of Tuscany where good food, genuine wine, and great company have always been his passions. As a leading expert in the Italian industry, Francesco has selected finely crafted wines from small vineyards around Tuscany for the club to enjoy.
Enoteca Scali
Enoteca Scali is a historic wine shop in Volterra, Tuscany. Owner Massimo is a great wine expert and his mission is to research and find excellent wines produced by small or very small Italian producers. The wine shop and Massimo appeared in the documntary film, Mondovino, that created a big scandal in the world of great winemakers and producers. Massimo and Francesco often collaborate on wine selections and participate together in many international wine fairs.
Rainer Metzger, Club Organzier
