Guided By Áine
About Áine
Áine took her first trip to Ireland at just 6 weeks old. Born in Seattle and raised in an Irish immigrant family, her childhood summers were spent at her grandmother's cottage in Co. Wicklow. As a young adult she began to truly understand and appreciate the richness and beauty of the Irish culture that she grew up immersed in.
At the University of Notre Dame, Áine studied Irish history, language and literature. She also had her first opportunity to explore continental Europe. After graduating, she moved to Dublin where she lived for three years. While there, she traveled extensively around Ireland and beyond. She also earned a master's degree from University College Dublin. In 2014, Áine joined the team at Rick Steves' Europe where she spent the next 7 years designing and planning tours across Europe. A love of Ireland is in her blood, and helping others understand the country through food, music, art and history is her passion.
Áine currently lives in beautiful British Columbia, where she works in tourism and blogs about Ireland travel at eirewithaine.wordpress.com.
